A PhD recipient from the University of California, Los Angeles, Kurtuluş Gemici’s research interests include political sociology, economic sociology, development, and social theory. His current project considers the politics of international capital flows and capital mobility, and, more specifically, how emerging and developing countries respond to financial opening and market liberalization. Dr. Gemici’s past work has included an analysis of the concept of embeddedness in Karl Polanyi’s thought, which was published in Socio-Economic Review. He is currently a visiting scholar at New York University.
